Halloween is a fun and festive time of year. Still, there are many things to take caution with while celebrating. That is why we have some helpful tips to keep in mind for trick-or-treating this Halloween in Foster City.

  • Always accompany your children while they trick-or-treat. If your children are older and don’t want to feel like their parents are shadowing them, tell them to stick with large groups of their friends.
  • Make sure your children know never to enter the home of a stranger.
  • If your child’s costume has a mask, make sure he removes it before crossing streets as masks tend to restrict vision and create blind spots in the peripherals.
  • Children and adults alike should always walk on a well-lit sidewalk and never in the street especially if wearing dark clothing or a dark costume.
  • Make sure your kids don’t cut through backyards or alleyways while trick-or-treating; tell them to stay on the street where they can be seen.
  • If a costume requires a fake firearm, make sure it looks fake. Anything that looks like a real weapon should not be used as they could be mistaken for actual weapons.
  • While crossing the street, tell your children to cross from corners. Avoid crossing from between parked cars or anywhere else that might catch passing motorist by surprise. Always cross with caution, no matter what time of year it might be.
  • And, as always, make sure you have a fun and happy Halloween!
