Peninsula Makes List of Best-Performing Cities

January 14th, 2013

There is no doubt that the Peninsula is an amazing place to live, work and play.  We all realize that a strong, local economy is vital for a region to do well.  That is why we were excited when our neighboring cities on the Peninsula and in Silicon Valley made the list of Best-Performing Cities in the nation.

The study was compiled by the Milken Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan economic think tank which works to improve lives around the world by advancing innovative economic and policy solutions that create jobs, widen access to capital, and enhance health.

The Purpose of The Study. From their website:

We pinpoint where employment is stable and expanding, wages and salaries are increasing, and economies and businesses are thriving. Armed with this knowledge, businesses, investors, industry associations, development agencies and government officials, academics, and public-policy groups can assess, monitor, and gain insight into each metro’s performance relative to the rest.

The study was a featured article on the San Mateo Patch. From the article:

San Francisco-San Mateo-Redwood City were ranked 36 on the list in 2012, compared to their 52 spot in 2011.

“People expect tech to be one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy, and it was,” Ross DeVol, chief research officer of the Milken Institute and one of the report’s authors, said in a statement.

The entire report, broken down per state, can be found here.
