Natural Ways to Remove Tricky Stains from Your Plaza Carpet

April 8th, 2015

No matter which floor plan you choose at our eco-friendly apartments in Foster City, you will have luxurious cut-pile carpeting in at least the bedrooms, if not the living room area as well. Stepping down upon soft carpeting is a wonderful way to start your morning. Carpets can take a lot of heavy traffic and abuse, but they do need to be cleaned on a regular basis.

Pets, children, and many social gatherings can get your carpets stained and dirty quickly. Here are a few eco-friendly ways to remove those tricky stains and keep your carpet smelling fresh and clean around the clock.

  • Borax, baking soda, distilled white vinegar, fine cornmeal, lemon juice, and salt are tried and true natural products that should be in every eco-friendly person’s cleaning closet. Use these in conjunction with your broom, vacuum cleaner, a natural bristle brush, and even a carpet cleaning machine for those tough jobs, and you will never worry about odors, stains, or built-up carpet grunge again.
  • A mix of 1 cup of Borax or baking soda (good for eliminating pet odors) to two cups of cornmeal sprinkled liberally over just swept and vacuumed carpets will handle most topical stains, odors, and loose dirt quite well in our eco-friendly apartments in Foster City. Let the mix sit for an hour, then vacuum.
  • An equal parts mix of vinegar and water or lemon juice and salt, scrubbed into the stain and left standing for 15 minutes, can zap any remaining deep stains.
  • Try a carpet cleaning machine, filled with natural carpet cleaning solution, for a once-a-season, naturally clean carpet boost.
