The Community Bike Ride will be on Sept. 21 at Boothbay Park. It will start at 10 a.m. and go until 1 p.m. Opt for a 2.5 mile bike ride or an 11-mile bike ride.
There will be bike and helmet safety checks along the way, free of charge. There will also be water and snacks at the half point of the bike ride and at the finish line.
Restorative yoga is also a great way to unwind either solo or with others. Fortunately, as tenants of our affluent apartments in Foster City, we have the perfect spot to practice yoga – the Zen Courtyard.
Restorative yoga is useful in training your body to handle stressful situations. The three steps to this type of yoga are relaxing your body and mind, long, deep breaths and calming your mind.
You can use various poses to bring to your mind the areas of your body that are holding tension. Then you will be able to breathe into those areas and help yourself relax.
For instance, try the legs up the wall pose. In this pose you lie flat on your back with your legs extended up a wall. This pose helps to bring the blood flow to your stomach and other intestinal organs.
Of all the community events in Foster City, you don’t want to miss the community bike ride. Make plans to attend today!

Go Green at September Recycling Events in Foster City
August 20th, 2014
Recycling in Foster City helps keep our part of the state clean and beautiful, so it’s something many residents take pretty seriously. So seriously, in fact, that events are organized year round to make sure recyclables get where they need to go. September will see several of these events.
E-waste Recycling: Sept. 6
Old laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic waste don’t have to end up clogging our landfills. By recycling their valuable metals and components, we can get years of further use out of obsolete electronics. Bring your old electronics to the City Hall parking lot between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for recycling.
Shred Event: Sept. 6
Protect your privacy by disposing of sensitive documents is a way that keeps them out of the hands of identity thieves. During this event, which takes place at the same time and location as the E-waste event, you can have your recyclable documents carefully shredded by machine.
Compost Giveaway: Sept. 20
Recycling in Foster City isn’t only about getting rid of your trash. At the Compost Giveaway, you’ll enjoy the benefits of being on the receiving end of recyclables. Compost is one of the most effective natural ways to give your garden a nutrient boost. Sometimes, though, the compost your household produces isn’t quite enough.
If you’d like to pick up free compost for your yard and garden, come to Boat Park between 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Bring a yard waste bag, plastic barrel, your pickup truck or other container.
