Shop Local – Year-Round Farmers Market in Foster City

August 28th, 2012

With today’s busy schedules, sometimes it is hard to find time to relax and unwind.  So if you are looking for a temporary escape from your hectic lifestyle, you may want to block out a little window of time on Saturday and visit the local farmers market in Foster City.

Nothing beats the experience of a Farmers Market….the sights, the smells and colors are all a welcome escape from our daily, plugged-in lives.  The Plaza is very fortunate to have a  brand new, year-round farmers market located in the Charter Square Shopping Center.  The market is put on by West Coast Farmers Markets, an organization which has a number of markets in and around the peninsula. The new Foster City market is growing with each weekend and has been well received by patrons. From a recent Patch article:

I have been here almost every weekend since it opened, and each week there are more vendors and more variety. I recommend dropping by! – Dawn H.

Let’s get out and support our local market. Happy shopping!

Babes In Hollywood | credit:

When you live at The Plaza in Foster City, you are conveniently located in close proximity to San Jose, San Francisco and The East Bay.  But often you can find all you need, and sometimes something much more, locally in Foster City and neighboring San Mateo.  Hillbarn Theatre is one of those local gems.

Hillbarn Theatre has a long, endearing history and is the 6th oldest theatre of its kind in the United States and is currently in its 71st continuous season of programming. This is a true gem of a theater. Some of the best productions on the Peninsula are done at Hillbarn Theatre.

Hillbarn Theatre kicks off their 72nd season on August 31st with Ragtime: The Musical. The season continues with a variety of musicals, mysteries and comedies. Be sure to check out their upcoming performances.

Locals love the Hillbarn Theatre experience. Take a look at some of their Yelp reviews:

I saw “Oklahoma” which was just marvelous with some amazing performances. The Laurey and Judd were superb. I then caught “Steel Magnolias” which was so true to life that I felt i was in Louisiana! – Shannon M.

I recently attended the show Oklahoma and absolutely LOVED it! The cast was superb! I thought they belonged on Broadway. I am going to purchase season tickets! We are so lucky to have such a professional playhouse in our community. They deserve our financial support and applause. – Elaine S.

We are so lucky to have a quality theatrical venue in Foster City which is walkable (about .5 mile) from your front door at The Plaza.

The CalTrans Convenience

August 7th, 2012

At The Plaza Foster City, we understand convenience is key. Our location is centrally located between San Francisco and San Jose, with easy access to both BART and CalTrans. Whether utilizing transit for work or for play – we make it easier to get to your destination. Skip the traffic and ride in style. Our closest station is just over 1 mile from your front door at The Plaza!

Caltrain provides commuter rail service along the San Francisco Peninsula, through the South Bay to San Jose and Gilroy. Find Your Way

And…the Baby Bullet serves BOTH our nearby Hillsdale and San Mateo Stations on weekdays and weekends! Baby Bullet is the name given to Caltrain’s express service. Baby Bullet trains stop at only a handful of stations along the Peninsula to reduce travel times to just less than an hour between San Francisco and San Jose. There’s no extra charge to ride the Baby Bullet. Get The Schedule

Here’s what Vivek P. had to say: about the nearby Hillsdale Caltrain Station on Yelp:
What I like about the Hillsdale Caltrain Station is that there are lots of parking options and many express trains stop here.  There are parking lots on all 3 sides of the station which is key when you’re like me and always cutting it down to the last moment.  One time the train passed me while I was driving up El Camino and still managed to park and make onto the train before it left the station.

Caltrain is the best way to get to AT&T Park from the South Bay and Peninsula. Giants fans love Caltrain! Did you know? In 2012, 545,000 fans took Caltrain to AT&T Park. Since Caltrain’s San Francisco Terminal at Fourth and King Streets is just one block from AT&T Park, riding the train is part of the fun. Before you hop aboard, review these things to know before you go:
