  • Foster City was founded in the 1960’s and is named after T. Jack Foster, who owned a lot of the land that now makes up the city.
  • T. Jack Foster played a big role in the design of the city at the time of development. His family’s firm, Foster Enterprises, is very active in real estate in Foster City as well as throughout the San Francisco Bay area.
  • Foster City is considered to be a part of Silicon Valley. This is due to the fact that it is close to Silicon Valley cities and has similar local industries.
  • In 2009, Forbes ranked Foster City as #10 on their list of America’s Top 25 Towns to Live Well. Money has also recognized the city on their Best Places to Live list several times.
  • Foster City has over 16 miles of man-made canals. They are known as the Foster City Lagoon and they provide gorgeous views and activities throughout the town.
  • We have had quite a few athletes come out of Foster City. Some of the most notable include Kevin Mitchell, a San Francisco Giants player, and Jeff Kent who was awarded the MVP of the National League.
  • The founder of PayPal, was raised in Foster City. Peter Thiel is also a political activist and gay libertarian.

  • The wettest month of the year in Foster City is January. Other than that, we enjoy a mild Mediterranean climate that consists of warm dry summers and cool wet winters. The warmest month is July with average temperatures of 80.8 degrees.
  • There are many companies with headquarters located in Foster City. Some of these companies include Visa, Gilead Sciences, Philips and Sony.
