5 Reasons We Love Dogs

February 11th, 2017

DogDogs have always played a special role in the lives of human beings since time immemorial. There is a really deep connection between dog lovers and their pets. But why do we love dogs so much? There are many answers to this question, but here are the 5 most common answers.

Loyalty

We definitely love our dogs because they are more than just pets. When your dog loves you, it becomes completely loyal to you. There have been cases of dogs so loving that they ran back to their owner’s house even after being sold off. There are other many examples of dogs showing loyalty to their owners and if you own one, you surely know what we mean.

Friendship

Dogs are said to be man’s best friend. Unlike friends and colleagues who we may outgrow or get separated from by distance, our dogs are always there with us through thick and thin. They do not turn us down when in need; they do not desert us when we are broke, sick or in upset. They are there with us during our bad and happy times, always offering their companionship and friendship in the best way they know they how.

Exercise Partner

Dogs are among the best exercise partners we have in our lives. Today, when almost everything is available to you at the touch of a button from your Foster City apartments, it is sometimes hard to become motivated and go outside for a walk or jog. But for us dog lovers, you just know you have to take your dog for a walk and in the process end up exercising and staying healthy.

Unconditional Love

We have all heard this severally, “A dog is the only thing in the world that loves its owner more than it loves itself”. Dogs love unconditionally. They will show you their affection whether you are in a bad or good mood. They don’t care whether you got fired, dumped or lost something while you were gone. The moment you get back to your Foster City apartments, they will be there at the door eagerly waiting to see and snuggle with you.

Dogs Listen to Our Problems

We love to tell our dogs the secrets and problems we face, knowing that they won’t spill the beans to anyone. They just sit there and listen without judging.

2 Cards Games to Bust Out at Game Night

February 2nd, 2017

CardsCard games are a fun way to entertain your guests at The Plaza apartments in Foster City. Even though we live in a world of technology, where most games are available online, it’s better to interface with humans than it is with a computer. So why not head to downtown Foster City and pick up a pack of old fashioned playing cards? Call up some of your friendly neighbors at The Plaza apartments in Foster City and invite them over for a night of card playing. These two card games are old favorites that everyone is bound to enjoy.

1. Slapjack

The object of the game is to collect all the cards. This game is fast and furious once it gets started!

Rules:

  1. Everyone sits in a circle formation around the table. Deal all the cards until they’re gone. Everyone should hold their cards face down and not look at them.
  2. Starting clockwise, each player draws a card from the top of their own pile. They then lay that card face up in the center of the circle.
  3. If a Jack card appears, the goal is to be the first person to slap it, or cover it. If more than one person slaps at once, the person whose hands is touching the Jack wins that round and gets to keep all the cards in the pile. They then take those cards and set them aside.
  4. If a player slaps a card that isn’t a Jack, they have to give the top card in their pile to the player who placed the slapped card. That player adds the extra card to the bottom of his or her deck.
  5. When a player runs out of cards, the player is out—unless he or she can slap a Jack laid by someone else. At that point, the previously “out” player is back in and can play with the cards collected from the pile.
  6. Whoever ends up with all of the cards wins.

Crazy 8s

The objective of this fun game is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards.

Rules:

  1. Deal 5 cards one at a time, face down.
  2. Place the rest of the cards face down in the center of the table, then turn the first card up and place it beside the face down pile. If an eight is turned, it is buried in the middle of the pack and the next card is turned. The face-up cards create a “starter” pile.
  3. Starting to the dealer’s left, each player places one card face up on the starter pile. Each card played (other than an eight) must match the card showing at the top of the starter pile in suit or denomination. So if the king of Clubs is the starter, the card played must either be another king, or be any card from the clubs suit. If unable to play a card, the player draws cards from the top of the face down cards until a play is possible.
  4. If the facedown pile runs out, the player must pass his or her turn to the next player. At that point, save the card at the top of the starter pile, then shuffle the cards underneath, turn them face down, and make them the new stock pile.
  5. All eights are wild. An eight may be played at any time in turn, and the player should only specify a suit for it, not a number.
  6. The first player without cards wins the game!
