February 26th, 2013

Foster City Makes List of 100 Safest Cities in America

Foster City Makes List of 100 Safest Cities in America

Neighborhood Scout research reveals the 100 safest cities in America with 25,000 or more people, based on the total number of property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Data used for this research are the number of total crimes reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and the population of each city.

According to Foster City Patch, the award honors the accomplishments of the police force, as well as a community bonded in prideful citizenship. Foster City Police Capt. Joe Pierucci said the city is also the 15th safest in the state of California out of approximately 261 municipalities with a population of more than 25,000 residents. (Read More)

A few yelpers had this to say about our fair city:
Living in Foster City has been great.  It definitely is the burbs, but why live in the Peninsula if you don’t wanna live in the burbs?
It’s a nice community with a lot of outdoor activities, such as windsurfing, kayaking, and running by the bay.  Great combination of mom and pop shops and big business.  Easy commute to San Francisco via Sam Trans FX and FC is well kept.    Every time I come visit my mom in Foster City it’s always like a vacation.  Tanning by the lagoon or taking out a boat on the water.  Where else on the Peninsula can you enjoy such amenities?
Richard C.

After living here for a few years, this is the nicest place to live in the peninsula. It has everything you need within a five mile radius. The dog park is great, Target is right around the corner… It’s quiet. Great place to live.
Cameron B.

2013 is the Year of the Snake

Year of Birth: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025
Lucky Colors: red, pale yellow, black
Lucky Numbers: 2, 8, 9
Lucky Flowers: orchid, cactus

This year welcomes the Year of the Snake and the beginning of a new year on the Chinese Lunar Calendar, and for other Asian cultures.  Snake is the sixth sign in the Chinese astrological cycle.  History suggests that before Buddha left this world, he invited all of the animals to join him around his table for a feast.  Of all of the creatures in the land, only 12 arrived.  The steadfast Ox led the way, but at the last moment, the Rat, opportunistic and fleet of foot, scampered over the Ox’ back and arrived first at Buddha’s door.  For their loyalty and faithfulness, these animals were rewarded in perpetuity by having a year named after each of them in their order of arrival.

The 12 animals run in sequence beginning with the Rat and followed by the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Money, Rooster, Dog, and last, but not least, the Pig.

If you were born during the Year of the Snake
People born in the Year of the Snake are the most intuitive, even while remaining the most private and reticent. Snake people represent the symbol of wisdom. They are intelligent and wise. Snake people are usually regarded as great thinkers.

Snakes are materialistic and love keeping up with the Joneses. They love to posses the best of everything, but they have no patience for shopping. Snake people prefer to work alone, therefore they are easily stressed; if they seem unusually stressed, it is best to allow them their own space and time to return to normal.
