July 17th, 2012

The Sawyer Camp segment of the Crystal Springs Trail is one of San Mateo County’s most popular outdoor destinations. Sawyer Camp is a popular trail with locals who love the outdoors and want a break from today’s busy schedules.

See what people are saying about Sawyer Camp Trail on yelp:

Tranquil. I come here to clear my mind… and to get in shape. This trail is a hidden gem in the midst of suburbia. – Shara S.

My favorite place to run.  A great, mostly flat path that goes for six miles with mile markers.  Plenty of amazing scenery, and every once in a while you’ll run into a family of deer.  The path has plenty of runners, walkers, roller bladers, and cyclists – Mark P.

2012 Foster City Summer Concert Series Lineup

July 13th, 2012

Foster City Summer Concert Series 2012 kicks off July 13 with new performers each Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park, at the corner of E. Hillsdale and Shell Boulevards. This beautiful park lines Central Lake, providing a perfect scenic backdrop for an exciting summer concert series and other festivals offered throughout the year. One Yelper describes it best…

This place is beautiful, in the heart of Foster City. I went to the Polynesian Festival last year and watching the hula groups perform in the stage area with the water and blue sky in the background felt just like being in Hawaii! The grass is always green, the roses are always blooming and beautiful, and you can’t NOT be relaxed when starring out into the tranquil lagoon.  Vivian L (San Mateo)

According to The Lagonian and Foster City’s Parks and Recreation Department, approximately 2,000 guests attended last year’s Summer Concert Series! Bring a blanket, grab a friend or meet a neighbor, this family friendly event series is a sure hit for all to enjoy. Mark your calendars, the popular event includes a spectacular 2012 line-up:

July 13: Pop Fiction (pop hits)

July 20: The Refugees (Tom Petty tribute)

July 27: Magic Moments (50s rock n’ roll)

August 3: Tinman (classic rock)

August 10: The Hitmen (disco/funk)

August 17: Because (Beatles tribute)

Sponsors of this year’s concert series include Gold Medal Martial Arts, T.M. Tobin Co., Loral Landscaping, the Foster City Rotary Club, Danford Foundation, Integral Chiropractic, MJ Murphy CPA Office, Tom and Carol Torgerson, Patti Styka for Electra Craft Boat Sales, Chris and Jim Freshour, Jack Piotrkowski, Joe Benvenuto, Ben & Beverly Cardenas and Foster City Islander.

SRGNC Launches The Plaza Apartments in Foster City

July 1st, 2012

The Plaza Foster City is the first phase of an overall master plan redevelopment of 20 acres in Foster City called the Pilgrim Triton Master Plan, whose vision is to enhance Foster City by creating additional opportunities, to work, live, shop, gather and enjoy another first class master planned neighborhood in Foster City. Planning for the Pilgrim/Triton master plan has been in the works for more than five years and ultimately will include a total of over 700 residential units along with almost 300,000 square feet of commercial office space.  A new park is also included in the 20-acre master plan.

The Plaza is a four and five story structure surrounding a five story parking garage where residents will park on the same level as their apartment. There is a limited retail component at grade and adjacent to the Leasing Center. The project will include a new park/plaza. The interior private courtyards have been designed with amenities including pool, spa, outdoor kitchen, zen/water garden, and fireplace/meeting space. Other amenities will include a club room, fitness center, yoga room, business center, and theater.

307 Luxury 1-, 2- and 3-Bd Foster City Rental Homes will begin leasing in Fall 2012.

The City of Foster City’s civic and business leaders attended the luncheon celebration including Mayor Linda Koelling who spoke to the crowd about the positive impact the redevelopment of the Pilgrim/Triton area of Foster City will have on the community.

“Since most of Foster City was completed in the 1970’s, several areas along the Highway 92 corridor are ripe for redevelopment including the Pilgrim/Triton neighborhood,” said Mayor Koelling. “It is rewarding to see the first phase of the 20-acre development begin with new workforce housing.  The Plaza, in Foster City captures the vision of the future for our city.  Like the mythological bird, the Phoenix, the Pilgrim/Triton project will grow to enhance the economic vibrancy and vitality of our community. I look forward to its completion.”

“It has been rewarding to work with Foster City’s elected officials and staff to plan a fresh new neighborhood that replaces obsolete light industrial buildings,” said Jeff Smith, vice president for SRGNC’s multifamily development division.  “Pilgrim/Triton will bring many new residents to the community and build a larger tax base to support community services.”
